Jireh’s First Holy Communion

What a beautiful day! My second born received her first holy communion today. It was a beautiful Mass, including a May Crowning of Our Lady. We were asked not to photograph during Mass but I have photos of before and after.

Getting ready to receive Our Lord!

Kneeling at the altar rail after Mass

So happy!

Proud of my big girl!

Jireh said, “I want to receive Jesus again! It makes me want to go to Mass every day!”

Miriam said, “I was almost crying, I was so excited for her. It was like a wedding. And she was the prettiest one there.”

šŸ™‚ We celebrated with a Hodges-style extravaganza (read: lots of sausages on the grill and beer in the cooler).

Congratulations to Jireh! We had five children receive First Holy Communion in my Parish on Sunday. It is such a time of joy. A good friend of mine has a daughter who received her First Holy Communion on April 28. Between Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday, Mother’s Day and so many First Holy Communions, Springtime is just fantastic! I was an adult convert, so whenever I see the children receiving Jesus for the first time, I remember my own First Eucharist at Easter Vigil on April 10, 2004. I get all choked up watching others receiving their first time.

Congrats again. So telling to compare Jireh’s FHC with Liam’s…. sigh — out of all the girls receiving FHC at our parish, only 2 had veils. The rest didn’t wear veils at all, and only 3 girls covered the shoulders- the rest spaghetti strapped it or went sleeveless.

  5. Congrats! I happened to miss my youngest’s first communion. He was visiting “our monastery” with my husband and daughter. They attended mass and Fr. “accidently” gave him communion. Fr. K’s first thought was oh no his mom will be mad she missed it. It was later determined that the first communion was valid, and my son has continued to receive communion since then. He was 5 at the time. Enjoy this time.
